An Elegant & Rustic May Wedding at Venue 54

Whenever one of my brides tells me that they’ve booked Venue 54 for their wedding, I just know it’ll be a breathtaking experience. Located right on state lines, this Delmar, Maryland, wedding venue is the perfect mix of rustic charm and elegant sophistication.

What made this wedding even more special was how perfectly the venue fit this couple’s vibe! Lauren and Michael (or Mikey, as everyone calls him!) were so laid-back and fun, which made working with them a breeze. Their focus was totally on each other the entire day. You could tell that they just wanted to have fun and celebrate their love with all of the people that meant the most to them.

A Calm Morning Before the Wedding

I met Lauren, Mikey, and their wedding party in the morning at Venue 54 to get some shots of them getting ready. I love it when couples get ready at the venue. Without having to run to different locations, we have more time to relax and get the perfect shot. Plus, Venue 54 is such a gorgeous space that it gave us the perfect backdrop for getting ready photos!

Lauren looked absolutely gorgeous. Her gown was simple yet classic and elegant. It really allowed her natural beauty to shine through. Featuring a strapless, sweetheart neckline with tulle underneath, the back of the gown was the real star of the show. The line of buttons, leading to a small bow at the bustle, made for incredible photos. She completed the look with loose Hollywood waves, pearl white block heels, and a long veil with intricate lace detailing on the bottom.

Mikey was her perfect match in his all-black tux. They honestly looked like a picture-perfect couple! Together with their groomsmen in black and white tuxes and the bridesmaids in champagne one-shoulder gowns, the entire wedding party matched the elegant yet relaxed vibe of this rustic, modern venue.

An Outdoor Maryland Wedding Full of Charm

Once everyone was dressed and ready, it was time to head out to the ceremony space. I loved how Lauren and Mikey combined traditional details with the modern, natural feel of Venue 54’s outside space.

The couple tied the knot under a wooden pergola. White draping and delicate white flowers adored the wooden cross at the aisle, and white and red rose petals lined the aisle. It was simple yet stunning. Between the pergola, the wooden benches, and the beautiful landscaping, it was the perfect natural setting for the nuptials.

The forecast called for rain, so I was nervously checking the weather all day. But we got lucky, and the rain held out until we were well on our way home. It ended up being a perfect spring day – just slightly overcast, which is perfect for photos. I’m so happy that this incredible couple got the beautiful day they deserved!

A Rustic Yet Elegant East Coast Wedding Reception

After the ceremony, we moved inside to celebrate this match made in heaven. Their sweetheart table backed up to beautiful glass doors, and I loved the way the draping was done to complement the decor and the handmade farm table.

Their floral arrangements featured delicate white flowers, a touch of greenery, and lots of glass bud vases. They mixed and matched their seating, with some people sitting at long farm tables and others at traditional circle tables. Just like their ceremony outside, it was the perfect blend of traditional, modern, and elegant touches.

It’s All in the Details for this Spring Wedding

Walking into the reception, I was blown away by how perfect everything looked. They really embraced the rustic feel of their venue and incorporated it into everything from their signage to their card box and seating chart. They honored those who couldn’t be with us with a beautiful photo frame ladder, which I also thought was a great touch.

They skipped a traditional wedding cake and opted instead for a smaller, one-tier cake and tons of delicious-looking desserts. I’ve seen this trend a lot, especially lately, and I have to say I love it!

Speaking of things I absolutely loved, you know I’m a sucker for a cute puppy, so the fact that they included their sweet lab in both their wedding cake and their signature cocktail was the highlight of the wedding for me! The way the little lab “stole” a bite of cake was so precious!

In lieu of favors, they sent home little to-go cakes with all of their guests. I always love it when people do edible favors, but these little cake boxes were probably the cutest ones I’ve seen yet! Who doesn’t love a snack after a long night of dancing and celebrating?

All in all, Lauren and Mikey’s wedding was exactly how all spring weddings should be – timeless, elegant, and full of love.

My Note to Lauren & Mikey

Lauren and Mikey - it was an absolute honor to photograph your wedding for you! The way you love each other, interact with each other, and care for each other made capturing beautiful memories and moments of your day so much fun.

I wish you all the happiness in the world! Remember, I am always here to capture whatever adventure life throws at you next!
